Furiosa 2024

“When things go bonkers you have to learn to adapt.”

“We are the already dead, you and I“

Is there beauty in sorrow? Is their understanding in pain? The striking thing about Furiosa, is that it doesn't answer this question, at least in the way that you might expect. It, like its older brother, Mad Max Fury Road, explores the edges of the extreme in a beautifully tragic way. Yet. in that tragedy there is always hope, even if we have to create that hope for ourselves
It is hard to express the nuances of Furiosa, a film that is at once a deep exploration of the consequences of excess, and an expertly crafted and choreographed action film with an artistic stamp like no other. A stamp that has no need of the aforementioned explanation, but it is greatly enhanced by its pairing. Perhaps that is the skill of director George Miller and his team. Their exploration of what lies at the end of beauty and sorrow, vengeance and pain.
Rated R for sequences of strong violence, and grisly images and brief nudity (a painting).

I found Furiosa to be thought-provoking, intriguing and visually enthralling. I hope in some way you do too.
